Elephant-Sized Grief
Norm Kidd
Elephant-Sized Grief
There’s an elephant outside the window. We know it’s there; every person who visits, enters the house and reminds us there is an elephant standing on the front lawn. In time they become quite concerned because the problems associated with it are far beyond maintaining a green lawn.
Some folks buy curtains and cover the window. Some close off that room to traffic. Others simply deny the elephant’s presence. Most don’t understand why the elephant simply won’t go away.
Grief is that elephant to those who are suffering a death in the family. Grief won’t be covered by curtains, closed off by locked doors, denied or wished away. It will remain on the lawn of your psyche until you make your journey through it.
We here at Bobbitt’s are not only here to help the dead go where they need to go, but to help the living go where they need to go as well. Through a variety of continuing care services we help people get the elephant off the front lawn.
